"A Little Bit of Everything" Haul

The month of July was busy for my bank account, I did some shopping - most of it was a replenishment for my own makeup kit but the rest was just pretty much shopping for myself or something that peaked my interest.

I have a Youtube video up on my channel about this if you prefer the visual to the reading, but I can assure you that the most detailed version of this haul is in today's blog.

MAC Cosmetics

First and foremost, the whole reason I was at the MAC counter was to replenish certain things and to buy my Bride her lipstick for the wedding, however I left with more than just the few items.

Firstly I replenished my new found love which is the Fix + Magic Radiance Setting Spray. I have always loved the Fix + Sprays and I have tried every single variant out there...BUT! This one is definitely my favourite one by far!

As we all Know, the Fix + range gives the skin an instant boost of hydration and leaves your skin feeling and looking glowy and healthy right? Magic Radiance however is made up of a few more key ingredients that gives the skin ULTRA hydration and radiance. The mixture of this Fix + was created backstage during fashion weeks, and the mixture of products used by the MAC artists backstage gave the models this wonderfully glowy and hydrated looking skin. These artists came together and have now fused these products together into a convenient Fix + spray. This can be used not only backstage but for yourself at home and in your kits to give yourself and clients the exact same look and feel as if you were to mix all these products together yourself.

The products that were mixed together was Essential Oils, Softening Lotion and of course Fix +. The Vitamin C from the Softening Lotion, Essential oils and additional Hyaluronic acid is mixed together into the Fix + to give you a setting spray that can be used under and over your makeup. An additional Moisture - Shield Technology helps to lock in lightweight moisture to ensure skin looks soft, supple, healthy and glowing.

You can clearly see why I love the Magic Radiance variant so much - it contains all my favourite products from counter in one easy to use spray.

I also picked up an Original Fix + Mini to keep in my handbag for Travel or for quick refreshing touch ups through out the day - I also love that they now come in their own little packaging.

While we are on the topic of mini's I also picked up a Mini Strobecream. I absolutely adore my strobecream - especially the Peachlite variant because it mimics most skintones beautifully.

I picked up a mini for my kit because my Peachlite is on it's way out and I know I need to buy another full size for myself soon but for now I just need this mini for a Wedding I will be doing soon.

The mini Strobecream comes in the original variant which is Pinklite, which I am not mad at because I am quite fair, but I do still prefer my Peachlite - so another purchase soon I think. Strobecream is a moisturizer with potent botanical ingredients that helps to give the skin a luminous finish so that skin doesn't look dull, tired or lifeless. It gives the skin the most ethereal glow without ever making your skin look oily. It helps to smooth over your skin whilst hydrating the skin.

Strobecream also comes in a body lotion variant which is great for the "Hot Girl" summer months coming up!

I have been thinking about this next product for about a month now - Heaven only knows why but anyway - it is the Studio Fix Soft Matte Foundation Stick. These launched while I was still working for the brand, and I will be honestly - I was unsure about it because I was struggling to use then. I just couldn't get it to work for me and I couldn't find a way to make it look on my skin, which meant that I just battled to sell it as a foundation - but as a contour and highlighting stick - it is amazing, especially the shade NC60 for contouring if you are fair in skintone! I honestly don't know why I have been pondering it so much but I eventually just bit the bullet and purchased one again to try it out. I am usually an NC15 in the Studio Fix Fluid and an NC20 in the studio Fix Powder + Foundation - but I could not remember what I used in the stick back in the day - all I could remember was that the 15 was too light and the 20 was too dark so I just kind of sat somewhere in the middle and chose an NC18, in case I get a little darker in the summer.

The foundation helps to perfect skin, darker shades help to contour the face whilst lighter shades help to perfectly lift and highlight the face. The foundation provides medium coverage but is super buildable. It gives off a natural matte finish and lasts for up to 24 hours.

Honestly, it is not the type of foundation I would normally go for but I want to work my magic and see if I can make it work for me and my needs and I guess on the plus side, if I travel again one day - it's a mess free, easy to use foundation for that instance.

The last item I bought was pretty much an impulse buy - but I am still so in love with this product and it is the Powder Kiss Liquid Lipsticks, I have a few already but I snagged the 'Good Jeans' shade. I love these lipsticks they are so comfortable to wear and can be used as an eye base and blush product - maybe not this shade - but the other shades I have. I wear them alone, I mix them together and it is just such a great product to keep in your kit for customization for looks. These lipsticks are great for more mature woman who love matte lipsticks but don't enjoy the drying aspect of an actual matte lipstick. I am also super impressed with the longevity in wear with these lipsticks considering that they are soft matte lipsticks.

ree

These lipsticks are designed to give you that blurred, high-impact matte look. They are super comfortable to wear because they are weightless. These lipsticks don't flake or bleed and are made up of a special blend of vitamin E, powders and emollient properties that will leave lips looking and feeling soft and smooth all day.

I ordered a ne double sided palette and Lip tray so that I can make a new custom lip palette for myself as my lipstick bag is starting to burst at the seams again so I need to decant all of those lipsticks into a tray to lighten my kit's load. I love the double sides palette more, because it can store more products in and they are more customizable for travel and face sets I think.

I also managed to get a free product while shopping, there was a promotion that Marco Louis was running, he is the Global MAC Artist for Africa. You could choose between 4 or 5 different select products and since I had all the other shades of all the other listed products I went for the blush. I got a free Glow Play Blush in the shade No Shame! which of course is not normally a shade I go for because it is Nicki Minaj Pink, but I love the texture of these blushes, I have another two shades that I bought when they first launched, and so I thought what the hell, I can make it work for a fair client of a really deep ebony client.

Dischem

While we are still on the Beauty route, I thought I would also share some of the drugstore products I purchased that I have been wanting to try out for the longest time - with a few little extras, of course.

The whole reason I went to Dischem in the first place was to visit the Catrice stand. I have been seeing a lot of influencers and Beauty Guru's using and raving about this particular foundation so I had to get myself one. It is the True Skin Foundation by Catrice. I couldn't test a shade because of the Covid restrictions we are in at the moment so I had to take a gamble and eye a shade out. I ended up taking the 004 Neutral Porcelain shade.

I didn't do a lot of research and to be honest the grain that tip the scale for was when I watched a video about Tati Westbrook raving about it. (A Beauty Guru on Youtube if you didn't know) so I am going to just add a snipet off their website about this foundation.

The website claims that this foundation is a hydrating and long wearing foundation that gives a medium but buildable coverage. It claims that it is suppose to mimic real skin - which you know is the hook for me! I love a foundation that is seamless. It contains Hyaluronic Acid & Watermelon Seed Oil which back ups their claim of hydrations because these ingredients help to boost hydration. The one thing that also stood out to me was that it claims to be an ultra lightweight texture that melts into your skin, and that for me is just music to my ears - I adore foundations that can do that, I feel like the Candid foundation from Revlon does that as well the Studio Face + body from MAC, so even though I haven't tried this yet I feel like I am going to really love it because it is so similar to other foundations that I have that I love.

ree

The next product has been on the top of my list for a while now and I finally bought one. It's the Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circles Treatment Concealer. I had a lot of friends recommend this to me so I am excited to try this one out. I couldn't test shades so I had to guess and I picked "Fair". This concealer makes the eye area appear radiant and refreshed, conceals fine lines instantly and is infused with goji berry and Haloxyl. Normally I wouldn't buy a concealer, because I'm not phased by coverage however I do like the brightening aspect of a concealer - especially if I'm not wearing makeup or wearing a light coverage type of foundation, so that is pretty much the extent of me buying concealers for myself.

I was shopping around and saw that Essence had a little mini's section, and I love it when a brand has mini anything - it is so helpful and useful. I was browsing around and saw they had a mini mascara available and so I got one because the mini mascara I keep in my hand bag for touch ups and travel is finished so that was a score for me. I have never tried this particular mascara before so it is also a new product for me and I wanted to find out more about it, so to the website I went - Number one - it's a volumizing mascara which is my favourite type of mascara! The formula is mega black with an extra-large brush which is also another big deal for me I love big clunky mascara wands - it just makes it super easy to whack on mascara and loads of it when you need it.

I Heart Extreme Mascara Mini - Black - 6ml - R69.95

I also came across an interesting product in the mini section and that was Soap Paper.

ree

There really and truly was no rhyme or reason for this purchase other than a great addition to my handbag and if in the event I am some where that doesn't have soap in the dispensers? Honestly! I hate the feeing of hand sanitizer even though we still have to use it because you know COVID! So I think this is a great solution addition to keep in your hand bag for on the go situations that will probably never arise in any time soon so?

I wondered over to the Lovisa counter and was immediately hooked on the Sale section but mainly I was there for two reasons - I was eyeing out a necklace I saw a few weeks back as well as their Travel Jewelry Case. I managed to snag those two items and obviously did a little more shopping around for other things.

ree

This is the little travel case I got for my jewelry. This is kind of a future investment purchase because I am hoping to get back to work with the Production Company I was working for before Covid and we travelled a lot. The last time we went over I just shoved all my jewelry into a small bag and a lot of necklaces got tangled - some of them are still tangled to this day that I just can't undo - so I think this will do me some good for travel and to just keep everything and safe and to just keep everything in one place for even if I am just travelling locally and need to keep my accessories safe.

These are the chains that I was after. I felt like everyone back in the 80's and 90's had them (even though I wasn't there) but a lot of those trends are coming back and I just fell in love with this style and so these are the chains I settled on - because there were just so many to choose from.

Statement Chains - Gold - 2 for R240.00 Special

I also bought two statement ear rings - just because they were on sale and I am an absolute sucker for ear rings! I bought these Gold and Enamel Door Knockers and these Rose Gold Champagne textured Door Knockers.

Part of the sale was also this cute hoop set - I feel like I have been really into hoops lately - can you tell?

Gold Diamante Hoop 2 Pack - 2 for R240.00 Special

Since my hair is much shorter I can't tie it up anymore so I bought these cute crocodile clips to clip my hair back - and they came in a set!

ree

Acrylic Mini Bow Claw Pack - Black & Tortoise Shell - 3 for R160.00 Special

Lastly I got a new nipple ring because the one I currently have is silver and a little plain - so i bought something big, gold and flashy - also praying that I don't hook it at pole (fingers crossed)

Gold Surgical Steel Diamante Crescent Nipple Bar - R220.00
