I Didn't Know That Sleeping on a Silk Pillowcase Would Be the Best Beauty Product!

You may be asking “how is a silk pillowcase the best beauty product?” you would be surprised how beneficial swapping out your pillow case will be not only on your skin but your hair and all-around general health too.
Today I am just going to focus on the benefits for your skin, since I am a makeup artist and skin is my playground.
I am very strict when it comes to my skin, in general, as it is my business card – people are less likely to be attracted to makeup that doesn’t sit on badly looked after skin. I make it a strict rule to always ensure that my skin is well looked after, I use only the very best products that agree with my skin type and that I drink lots of water to flush out toxins and keep my skin plump and moisturized.
The latest addition to my skincare regime is a set of silk pillow cases. I have been sleeping on silk for roughly a year now and I can honestly say that a silk pillow case is definitely worth investing in and here is why:
PS: I would just like to point out that I have a Combination skin type (Oily T-Zone & Normal/Dehydrated Skin) The following benefits cover all skin types so you are bound to find a benefit in here that suits your concerns.
1. Improve and Preserve Skin:
Cotton pillowcase or other material pillow cases in general cling to the bacteria that cause pore clogging and breakouts, silk pillow cases don’t do that. This is especially good for everyone who has acne prone skin as the material provides a smoother more breathable surface or your skin’s surface. I don’t particularly breakout that easily in my skin, unless I agitate it somehow, but I can imagine that this sounds like a big bonus for everyone ho battles constantly with breakouts and/or acne.
2. Less Friction:
No matter how soft and comfortable the material is of the pillow case, turning your head or nuzzling down into your pillow is still friction against the skin, micro abrasion against our delicate skin. Silk pillowcases provide a less abrasive alternative which means less irritability on the skin. This results in the minimized appearance of wrinkles and redness in skin, especially for those who battle with Rosacea or redness in general. This I can attest to, I may not suffer from Rosacea but I do have redness in my skin and from sleeping on a silk pillow case, my skin has cleared up wonderfully. I am still fairly young so I don’t have many wrinkles and fine lines as yet, however it is a good preventative measure to take in the long run for when we do start maturing in our skin. I also noticed that there are times where I experience super fine texture on my cheeks, but that is now a thing of the past – I haven’t had a fine texture breakout in the longest time.
3. More Moisturizing:
Other material pillowcases absorb all the moisture from your skin when you sleep, leaving your skin feeling dry and stripped, and if you have dry or dehydrated skin that could make your skin really unhappy. The up side to using a silk pillowcase is that the silk doesn’t absorb as much moisture as other pillowcases. This is also incredibly beneficial if you love to lather your skin in rich and buttery night creams because then your silk pillow case is less likely to steal your face products. Who would have thought that the best way to maintain the life of your night serums and creams would be a silk pillowcase, right? This is something I have tried out for myself. I slept a week without my night - skincare routine and woke up to slightly dehydrated skin but not as dehydrated and tight as that the week I slept with my old cotton pillow cases. I then tried that next week sleeping with my night – skin care routine applied and woke up to skin that was glowy and plump as if I had just applied my skincare routine. My skin wasn’t as red, I didn’t have sleep creases imbedded into my skin and my skin felt soft and plump. It is was at that moment that I knew that silk pillowcases were worth it and essential to happy and healthy skin.

I think these benefits speak for themselves and that you can see what a great investment it will be upgrading your pillowcases to silk ones.
I purchased two sets of white silk pillow cases through Isabella Garcia International, but there are many other outlets that you can purchase through, and here are some examples to get you started:
