It all began in the year of 2013. I had just finished school and I was between studying and working temporary jobs while trying to get my freelancing to take off as well.
One day, in the office that I was working for at the time, I wrote a short story for a project my manager was working on...and the rest is history.
I am totally joking. I enjoyed being able to express myself through writing and after assisting me in a few crash courses in writing, I started my blog. Now, best believe this blog has been going since 2013 but I have had an "on and off" relationship with it up until about 2 years ago. I was never really happy with how my blog looked or what I wrote about until I really took the time to sit and go through what I wanted out of my blog...fast forward a couple years and here we are giving it once last final go.
One thing I did know early on in those first stages of my blogging trial and error days, is that I knew that this was the best way for me to express myself. I have always been good with words but never in the physical realm. I have always had a clearer sense of direction, and thought processes ran smoother whenever I put pen to paper, or in this case keys to screen. I want this blog to be a place where I can share my stories and my life with readers while also sharing my knowledge around my passion which is of course beauty and makeup.
So many times you watch a Youtube video or an Instagram tutorial and even though the content in itself is great - there is always that pang for MORE, in-depth knowledge. What this means to me is - you just need that extra bit of information to sway you, be it a product review of a Lipstick or a technique; whatever it may be, that little bit of extra information could be the "be all or end all" in your decision making and I want to be able to bridge that gap. It is super hard to follow what is going on sometimes and I want to expand and explore makeup in various platforms.
I love learning and going deep into the information to get out exactly what I need and I want my blog to do just that. They say the "Devil is in the details..." and since I am that kind of a person - you can expect the same from my blog.
I have divided my blog up between Personal and Work and the reason for this is because of course I want to share all things Beauty and/or otherwise but also because I think it is important that you know the author behind it all. I love sharing stories (I really am such a good story teller) and opening up to people (assuming they let me in of course LOL) Having relationships with people builds trust and in sharing my life with you, it doesn't get more intimate than that right?
Let's be friends and have fun with makeup and celebrate the fact that we are strong, beautiful woman who share a common love for makeup and all things girly!
If you would like to get to know the author a little more - (which is me!) Click the button down below. If not, then happy exploring!
I have been blogging for the longest time now and I have realize that you don't actually know much about me and I am here to rectify the situation. I have decided to give you a, little facts page right here with bits and pieces about me. 50 of them to be exact!
1. My favourite animal is the Giraffe. I go crazy for them. They are adorable and dorky. (Just like me!)
2. I love Tea and Teapots. I am such a big tea drinker. My favourite teas are Earl Grey and the Hibiscus Tea from Woolworths. I can’t start my day without a cup.
3. Chicken is everything. I love Chicken. Fried, grilled, chicken on the cob which ever way it comes!
4. I like to think that I am a fairly good writer...talker - not so much.
5. I was a dancer for 13 years and even had the chance to represent South Africa in Blackpool, England. It was an amazing experience.
6. I can’t fall asleep without my husband next to me. I can’t sleep without a pillow between my knees. Plus my mattress has to be as hard as concrete for my back.
7. I am lazy AF! I am also a professional procrastinator.
8. I am almost positive I was born in the wrong era - just saying, because I am such an old soul.
9. I am really good at doing beauty makeup...but I hate wearing beauty makeup. I love my Colour and theatrics far too much.
10. I want a boob job more than life! I have no boobs and I come from a family where we are all very blessed in that department... except for me?! Nothing crazy like A to triple D because that's stupid! I am a B but I would like to be a full C.
11. I hate the sound of someone chewing gum. I can’t tell you the resonance it has on my body when someone talks to me and they are masticating like a cow. I really want to slap people though the face.
12. I am not a social person whatsoever. I can’t socialize at all - not because I can’t - because I don’t want to... I am so ridiculously introverted that it is unbelievable. People annoy me. Which is probably why my circle of friends is tiny.
13. I have a very strong Sixth sense. It’s so strong that I have developed a Seventh one. Just saying my gut feeling is super sensitive and I will always go heart over head. Which leads me to the next point.
14. I have no control over my face. It is a serious problem. My face gives me away no matter what especially when I have a bad vibe towards someone (i.e the sixth sense) it’s written all over my face and I immediately shut down on you. If we are talking I will literally not give you the time of day. I won’t make eye contact with you, I will close off my body and myself from you because you have a bad vibe and I am “protecting” myself subconsciously. It is such a weird defense mechanism thing and I am very aware of it. I need to teach my face to use it's inner voice.
15. I am a super private person and a grudge holder - it’s very contradicting for me to say because I am a forgiving person, but that’s it for us. You’re forgiven but like don’t come near me ever again because I’m done with you type of thing? It can be small it can be serious, if I feel deeply hurt by it then cheers. I don’t need that around me again? I keep to myself and that’s that. Bad vibe, bad voodoo bad whatever - don't need it in my life BYE!!!!! I will cut you out so fast you won't even realize you have been cut out!
16. I am a creature of habit.
17. I am very emotional about everything. I over think, over analyze and drive myself to exhaustion over stupid little things as well as the big things.
18. I’m a bottler. I keep things in until I explode - even when I do explode it will only ever be with someone I trust so depending on the situation it will only ever be my husband or my family - Because I have trust issues. I’m always looking for the catch.
19. I can’t say no or be rude to telephonic sales people. It literally is the most difficult thing for me to do. They will give their whole speech over the phone and at the end I will be like “oh umm... I’m not really interested.” It’s the worst.
20. Friends - is life I don’t care how old or long it has been. Chandler Bing is my soul mate, but I relate to Phoebe the most.
21. The lingerie as normal clothes trend thing irritates the shit out of me! I don’t want to be bitch slapped by your cleavage when I am trying to help you with your makeup - it’s too much. Keep it classy guys seriously. I’ve seen some mean boob spills on counter and I am not impressed. Leave that shit in 2018!
22. I love memes. Like so much!
23. Boys doing makeup or wearing it doesn’t bother me. Just like Drag Queens don’t bother me either. I respect what they do and everyone has a talent?
24. I have the biggest feet between my parents and sisters. Size 6!
25. I can totally speak Afrikaans fluently but only when my brain and mouth have a good connection that day or when i need to - it doesn’t come out very Afrikaansy. Sounds like a proper Englishman trying to get through life.
26. I can’t hold my liquor at all! One drink and it’s goodnight Irene!
27. I love to cook. More than baking.
28. I am an emotional cleaner. I clean when I am sad or angry or whatever.
29. I can go from 0 to 100 in 2 secs if you are rude to me. Interrupt me when I’m talking or when you are being unnecessarily difficult with me. There’s no need for that so why must I put up with it.
30. I have 9 piercings and 2 tattoos... for now.
31. I love doing skin. My favourite thing to do is apply and blend out foundation. I just love it. It’s satisfying and therapeutic in a way?
32. A day in watching a movie with my Baby Vis beats a night out always.
33. Baths and relaxing is the best thing in the world. Candles and salts and bath fizzies! BEST!
34. I am a night owl. Mornings are not my friend. I stay up to all hours of the night!
35. I couldn’t care for the Australian accent. I mean it’s not bad.... but it’s not great either. In fact my favourite accents are the New Yorkers/New Jersey, Scouse English or Northern England going towards Scotland but my best is Northern Ireland. I drool!
36. I can sing... doesn’t mean it sounds good though hahaha. I love singing!
37. I Am very witty. I am also funny and can be super dry and sarcastic at times. Which leads to some people getting caught up in their feelings and in all honesty - shame - the people who know me well know what I am like and can take it like a man - if you can't we can't be friends:)
38. It sounds so bad and selfish but I am not one for pleasantries... it sounds so vain oh my gosh but sometimes I just can’t stand it? I don’t know why - I find it redundant I think sometimes? It’s hard to explain so...
39. If I could do any celebs makeup it would be either Lady Gaga or Dakota Johnson. Dakota is the most beautiful girl in the world to me because she has the most unique features. I love gap teeth! Not passion gaps! But a slight gap in the teeth.
40. The only reason I want floor length hair is so that I can walk around my apartment topless.
41. I am inlove with the bohemian style and the Olsen twins totally got me into it.
42. Cher’s voice is everything, it’s perfection! I have a soft spot for vintage bands and songs right now from like the 40’s onwards. I think it’s a phase?
43. Reading for pleasure! Can’t go wrong?!
44. Spelling and Grammar and correct use of English matters to me... it seriously does.
45. I would really like to have my own makeup line some day.
46. Gin and Tonic. ‘Nuff said.
47. I can’t drink coffee. It affects me sorely. I feel feverish and nauseas and it almost feels like I get period pains.
48. Someday when I grow up - I would love to live in a loft.
49. Scars, stretch marks, bumps and bruises don’t bother me. Adds character to your body and tells a story. Don’t cover it up. This is why I don’t like heavy makeup. Let yourself be seen!
50. My husband is my best friend. I know that sounds incredibly cheesy but there isn’t anyone I love and trust more than him. I go to him for everything and anything and he is always thinking of me and will always be there for me.
Just to vent slightly on this point. I need to to elaborate on this - it makes me so mad when people think out loud and assume that I am neglected or forgotten because he is traveling a lot. Everyone is judging a situation based on what they see and not by what they know.
People also assume that we never see each other because of our schedules and this infuriated me because people think that we constantly miss each other during the day when in actual fact I base my schedule around his and it could not be more perfect or better suited for us. I work all my late shifts on the days that he works late so that we start and finish the same time and that just works for us!
I also hate when people assume that I can’t be a typical 1950’s imagined wife to him either. Yes we may eat dinner later in the evening but I am still doing the cooking for it. Yes I may only get to ironing and cleaning on the one off day I have a week but at least I am still doing it? So many people lately have had this image in the mind of what we should be as a couple and because we don’t fit the bill it’s deemed that we are unhappy and it’s not like that.
Mind your own damn business in terms of a relationship people - everyone is different HELLO!
Thank You that is all :)
